This project is about utilizing the knowledge gained from studying advanced genetics in class. We are instructed to research more into the topic to gain more insight into the structure function and expression of genes. The topic is free for my group to choose from. So my group opted for cloning. The topic of cloning overall can be explained from the perspective of making a copy of an existing animal by extracting the DNA of the existing animal and regrowing it with the information from the DNA. This results in a duplicate and the cloning process to complete. Just explaining the research will be pretty dull so we came up with a game. The game itself is named Dolly and is all about cloning Dolly itself. Then a whole storyline for the game is written for the game to follow along. The story is about the player entering the game as an intern at a science facility that does cloning on animals. The game first introduces the concept of cloning. After the basic cloning itself, it is then up to the player to choose their path. The game is included with multiple endings depending on the interactions from the player with the game. One of the endings talks about the ethics of cloning itself, and what can be said as right or wrong about cloning. The limited time frame forced us to choose to put the game on the platform Scratch due to the simplicity of coding the whole game itself. The character designs are thought out and hand drawn from scratch.
Strategic Leaners: I am able to recognize what is important to know and understand by using the lens of what I have learned about advanced biology to research cloning for this project.
Articulate Communicators: I am able to display my knowledge through the use of technology by producing and developing a mini-game about cloning.
