For this slide presentation, we are assigned to research the real-life work of the NCCC (National Anti-Corruption Commission), referred to as "ปปช" in Thai, from current news (2023) in Thailand. The goal of this work is to allow us to observe the real-life working of them in real life and not only on paper. The news that we chose for my group is about Pravit surviving the resolution of the NCCC (National Anti-Corruption Commission) with a vote of 5 in favor and 3 against, overturning the accusation of owning an expensive watch. Together with my group, we did research for details and compared and contrasted real-life procedures to the lesson that we learned in class.
In this news, Pravit faced accusations of amassing benefits exceeding 3,000 Baht and submitting false asset declarations. He asserted that he borrowed over 22 watches from Mr. Patthawat Sukkasriwong, returning them all. Despite multiple complaints, no investigative committee was formed. During the third round, Pravit presented evidence of watch transactions but didn't disclose owners or buyers. Officials initially considered the borrowed watches, returned after use, as lawful under Sections 640 and 641 of the Civil and Commercial Code. Consequently, the accused wasn't charged under the Anti-Corruption Act Section 103. The NCCC concluded that the accused legitimately benefited, revealing the complexity of interpreting corruption laws and questioning the effectiveness of existing legal frameworks.
Strategic Leaners: I am able to use technology to do research on content that we learned in class to compare and contrast with real-life scenarios.
Articulate Communicators: I am able to display my knowledge through a slide presentation demonstrating all research and information in order.
